Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Xerox Imaging Systems has launched Desktop Input Bundles, three new offerings for text recognition and image scanning on the desktop: each Desktop Input Bundle will include the GS plus, Xerox’ desktop scanner for the personal computer and Macintosh environments; the GS plus is available with Gray F/X image editing software for the personal computer, AccuText Intelligent Character Recognition software for the Macintosh, or Discover 386 software for MS-DOS; GS plus is a single-user 8-bit scanner designer with 256 grey levels and one pixel jitter resolution; Discover 386 is text scanning software for 80386-based systems and it accepts scanned input from Hewlett-Packard ScanJet and ScanJet Plus scanners; AccuText captures typeface to both complex and simple document structures; the Xerox Desktop Input Bundles are available for around $2,200 each.
