Xandros targets spring release for Linux server

Desktop Linux specialist Xandros Inc has said it will make its overdue debut in the Linux server market in the spring as the second phase of its Xandros server beta testing process has begun.

By CBR Staff Writer

New York-based Xandros first began making hints about a server product following its acquisition of the Debian-based Linux assets of Corel Corp in August 2001. The talk became more serious in July 2004, with the xDMS desktop management server product following in October 2004 and the server product entering beta testing in April 2005.

With the Xandros Server product now in the second stage of beta testing, the product is now slated for release in the spring. It will include the xMC Xandros Management Console, designed to make it easier to deploy and manage Linux servers within heterogeneous environments.
