X400 APPLICATION PROGRAM INTERFACE COMMITTEE FORMED

British Telecommunications Plc, its Dialcom unit, DEC, Lotus Development Corp, Sydney Development Corp, Data Access Corp, Retix Inc, Conetic Systems Inc and Telenet Commu-nications Corp are among the 11 founder members of a new X400 Application Program Interface Industry Committee, formed to develop standard programming interfaces for the X400 messaging standard. The aim is to develop a set of operating system-independent interfaces between electronic mail systems and other applications and X400 gateways and servers on local nets and monolithic computer systems. It costs an initial $5,000 to join.
