Wyse Technology Inc will today introduce an updated range of its Winterm 2000 and 3000 Windows-based terminals. The company will introduce new high end Winterm 2000 models with integrated audio output and optional embedded terminal emulation. The new devices, the modular 2315SE, and the integrated 2515SE and 2715SE, can access Windows, Java, legacy and browser-based applications through the Citrix WinFrame and Independent Computing Architecture. Wyse claims to have advanced the Winterm 2000 range and subsequently expanded their use in kiosk and corporate environments. The Winterm 3000 uses Windows CE 2.1, enabling users to have multi-session and multi-protocol access to Microsoft Corp’s Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Sever Edition, NT’s multi-user version. Wyse claims that users will now be able to much more easily control and increase the productivity of their corporate architectures. The 3000 Series will give users access to NT-based transaction processing applications, as well as Windows multi-access and multi-protocol applications and legacy applications, all based on CE. According to San Jose, California-based Wyse, users wanting to expand or create information systems based on Citrix’s ICA, WinFrame or MetaFrame server software, as well as Microsoft’s RDP protocol, will be particularly suited to the new terminals. The 2000 and 3000 Series are available today.
