ZTE, a telecommunications equipment and network services provider, and mobile operator COSMOTE have launched 3G dual carrier HSPA+ USB modem in Greece, which the companies claim is the world’s fastest.

The MF680 modem has download and upload speeds of up to 42Mbps and 5.76Mbps respectively, said ZTE, bringing it closer to the requirements of 4G networks.

The MF680 has been designed for HSPA+ networks. It has a USB slider connector that can be adjusted and plugged into any USB interface. It also supports a MicroSD card with data storage of up to 32 GB, said the company.

ZTE mobile broadband division General Manager Zhang Yadong said since they launched their first 21.6Mbps HSPA+ USB modem in Greece in 2009, there has been growing demand for higher bandwidth and more reliable data services.

Yadong said, "ZTE’s MF680 offers consumers a much better experience by accessing COSMOTE’s high-speed mobile broadband network, combined with a stylish form factor and higher technology."
