UK based Datawind has launched its UbiSlate 7Ci Android tablet for the British consumers, which is claimed to be the world’s cheapest of the kind, for £30.

The UbiSlate 7Ci is the commercial version of the Aakash 2 tablet designed and launched for Indian government to offer students with cheap internet access and help improve education.

Incorporating 512MB of RAM, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 2MP camera, microUSB connection and 4GB of storage, the new 7in Android tablet comes with Wi-Fi connectivity to allow users watch online tutorials and videos, as well browse the internet and play games

The tablet manufacturer revealed that the company was able to afford to sell the product at a low price as the price of the hardware counterbalanced the revenue generated via content and advertising.

According to the manufacturer, the 7Ci has access to over 150,000 apps, while handling essential functions such as email and web browsing.
