Clearly upbeat about his company’s bid to merge with MCI Communications Corp, WorldCom Inc CEO Bernard J Ebbers had a word of warning his opposite number at MCI. When asked if he had spoken to MCI chairman and CEO, Bert Roberts, he said he had called a Roberts early in the morning and Roberts had returned the call at around 8.30am. When he comes into WorldCom he is going to have to get into work earlier, Ebbers told the New York press conference.
