Exasperated with the confusion of MIPS ratings flying around in the workstation world, Apollo Computer Inc, Hewlett-Packard Co, MIPS Computer Systems Inc and Sun Microsystems Inc have come together to form the Systems Performance Evaluation Co-operative. The new body will establish a suite of standard performance benchmarks for measurement and characterisation of emerging generations of RISC and other CPUs.
