WordPerfect Corp last week confirmed to PC Week that it has suspended development on the 32-bit OS/2 version of its word processor, and most OS/2 WordPerfect developers have been reassigned to work on integrating WordPerfect’s Windows products with the OS/2 Workplace Shell: It was a business decision based on the size of the OS/2 market, Richard Running, director of marketing for WordPerfect OS/2 told the paper – If you look at the number of resources in terms of marketing and research and development it would take, continued work was no longer justified, he said; the company is planning an interim release of the 16-bit WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 next month that will add support for the REXX programming language, but it says it plans no further upgrades thereafter.
