Wipro Technologies has opened a new headquarter for its UK operations in London, UK. The company has also expanded its development centre facility in Reading. The expanded facility will be used to build centres of excellence, deliver customer projects and for training purposes. Both the centres will also serve as a hub for recruitment.
Wipro’s European operations account for around 26% its total IT services revenue. According to the company, the new offices will help in its growth strategy in the UK and Europe. The new office in London will also serve as a sales office.
Laxman Badiga, chief information officer of Wipro Technologies, said: Taking on the ownership of the facility at Reading is the first of its kind for Wipro overseas. The expansion of development facility and opening of office in London reinforces our commitment to the region.
In addition, the company has also appointed Dr Henning Kagermann to its board of directors. Prior to joining Wipro, he served as former chief executive officer of SAP. Welcoming Dr Henning Kagermann to the board, Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, said: He brings in a unique combination of academic perspective, technical expertise and leadership experience.
