Under this partnership, Windstream will offer features such as season pass recording, WishList searches, remote scheduling capabilities, TiVoToGo transfers, and access to interactive services such as weather and traffic information from Yahoo! and Fandango movie ticketing. These bundled services will be marketed in the first half of 2008.
The customers will be able to use TiVo’s interface to access broadband video content in addition to traditional linear television. The solution targets households reluctant to switch from cable to satellite services. The charges for TiVo will appear in the customer’s existing Windstream bill.
Other multi-service operators such as AT&T and Verizon Communications also offer DVR services. Datamonitor estimates that the number of households with DVR in the US is expected to rise significantly to 82.1 million by 2012 with a CAGR of 25.6%.
