Windstream said that it will expand its portfolio of business data services into more than 600 additional rural markets in its service area. These services include Ethernet Internet Access and Virtual Private Networking capabilities, which will deliver flexible service options to all Windstream business customers.

The company claims that the Ethernet Internet Access uses ethernet technology to internet connection at a lower cost than traditional access channels, such as T-1 circuits. Internet bandwidth is customer specific and not shared, allowing it to provide consistent performance for businesses that need to transfer large data files or critical documents. The service is available in 3Mbps to 10Mbps in market.

In addition, Windstream customers can bundle Ethernet Internet Access with other business solutions including ConnectStream Virtual LAN Service (VLS) and ConnectStream Virtual Private Network (VPN). These products enable customers to connect multiple branch offices and remote locations together, the company said.

The new offering also allows business customers to add network protection with ConnectStream Secure, which manages network security, protecting business critical data from malicious internet attacks.

Don Perkins, vice president of product marketing at Windstream, said: “Building meaningful relationships with our business customers while providing them with dependable and advanced data services is our ultimate goal. We’re excited to expand the availability of this next-generation network technology to an even broader customer base.
