Planning for Windows Refund Day (CI No 3,596) is in its final stages, with users of non-Microsoft operating systems in Silicon Valley, New York, Los Angeles, Japan, France, New Zealand, Belgium and the Netherlands planning peaceful demonstrations against the Redmond software giant today, Monday. Led by open source luminaries Eric Raymond and Larry Augustin, the demonstrators claim to represent all computer users who have been forced to buy copies of Microsoft’s Windows operating systems pre-installed on their personal computers. They say that PC users who reject the terms of the End User License Agreement (EULA) for Windows PCs, who never boot Windows and who reformat their hard drives with some other operating system, should be entitled to claim their money back.
