The German retail and banking technology provider Wincor Nixdorf has signed an agreement with the Manchester, UK-based Co-operative Bank to manage the latter’s ATM service. The agreement, which will run for seven years, sees Wincor offer complete management services for the Co-op’s full portfolio of ATMs, which comprises some 2,400 machines.

Under the terms of the deal, Wincor will become responsible for ATM helpdesk, maintenance, cash and settlement operations, transaction processing and future ATM development on the bank’s behalf. The migration of the ATM operation is envisaged in two phases, starting with the Co-op’s helpdesk and maintenance functions, with the remaining services following next year.

In clinching the contract, Wincor has gained its first global client for transaction processing management. Commenting on the deal, John Ennis, director of Wincor UK’s banking division, stated: The addition of the transaction processing element of the service will really provide the Co-operative Bank with a full end-to-end offering and also give Wincor Nixdorf a major step change to the services we can offer.
