WILLIAM McGOWAN DUE OUT OF HOSPITAL AFTER HEART ATTACK

MCI Communications has just revealed that its chairman, chief executive and prime mover William McGowan, 59, suffered a heart attack on December 21: he was expected to leave hospital yesterday, and is to spend the next month or so convalescing; Bert Roberts has been running the company on a day-to-day basis for some time while McGowan concentrated on long-term strategy.
