ChangeTip, the Bitcoin tipping service, has announced that it will now be available on Facebook.

The company’s blog said that the introduction of the service was due to ‘popular demand’, but added that it was ‘not the experience you have been expecting, but it is the best we are able to do given the limitations in working with Facebook’s platform.’

Users are left to wonder what these limitations are exactly, as the company failed to elaborate on the blog announcement.

The service will now allow Facebook users to select friends and tip them accordingly, alerting the receiver of the tip through their Facebook timeline.

Users will have to first connect their Facebook accounts with the ChangeTip setting panel. Facebook will then appear in ChangeTip’s home dashboard, with the interface then populating the ‘Send’ field with the user’s Facebook Friends. In order to access their sent tips, the receiver will have to log in through ChangeTip’s website.

This extends ChangeTip’s social media reach, as the service is already popular on platforms such as Reddit and Twitter. In addition to extending the reach of ChangeTip, the move also hopes to further the use of Bitcoin as a legitimate currency.
