As part of a major renovation of its technology curriculum for middle schools, the school district has purchased nearly 730 of the Palm computers featuring Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies for wireless communications. The new computers will allow students to access information and communicate from anywhere in the school and on field trips.

Students will use the handhelds to do online research and create multimedia presentations, as well as more complex tasks such as computer-aided drafting.

In addition to the middle schools, 100 district site technology specialists will receive a Palm TX. These specialists will use the handhelds to offer on-site technology support, train staff and keep track of inventory.
