Wicat Systems Inc is very excited about the prospects for a standard computer-based training system for pilots following a meeting at Heathrow last week of representatives of 13 private and public sector bodies concerned with basic training of aircraft pilots: Wicat says that there was considerable commonality of requirements regardless of nationality, and Wicat Systems UK Ltd has gone away to its base in Camberley, Surrey to come up with courseware materials for Wicat’s systems that will cover areas such as aerodynamics, navigation and meteorology, with a target date of January 1988; four of the 13 participants have so far formally confirmed their role in the development effort and have committed appropriate funds and others are expected to follow; total cost of development is put at $250,000.
