WHY NOT UTILIZE “UTILIZE”?

By CBR Staff Writer

One of our noirest betes around here is the word utilize, and despite the fact that all those English style-checking programs for your IBM PC spring into admontory life at the mere keystroke of it, it turns up in almost every missive put up on Businesswire: we just wonder why the writers don’t really have the courage of their convictions and go the whole hog – why not utilizators for users, from which we can then coin the participle utilizatorizing and even the verbal adjective utilizatorizatory.
