You have to hand it to the man – he’s clearly a genius, certainly when it comes to dreaming up original excuses for not meeting promised delivery dates on his brainchildren: Uncle Sir Clive, to the surprise of none of his vast army of loyal fans, is acknowledging that his new Z88 lap-top will be late, but why? Nothing so mundane as snags with the software or faults in one of the gate arrays – no, it’s because the US-Japan chip accord, and the new Japanese export licence rules (CI No 661), make it impossible for him to get memory chips for the machine… yes, well.
