Traveling Software Inc, Bothell, Washington has come out with the LapLink Pro Release 4 Upgrade to its file transfer utility and says it is making it available through the retail channel, the first time it has done this with a LapLink upgrade: it costs $60, and will be available to resellers exclusively from Ingram Micro Inc; it includes two floppies – 3.5 and 5.25 and a user’s manual; it works with existing LapLink cables, but users can upgrade their cables to the new TraveLite serial and high-speed parallel cables for another $50; it enables users to transfer files over its serial or parallel cable, or to a remote computer via modem, and has built-in intelligence, so users don’t need to understand terms such as stop bits, parity, protocols and other jargon to initiate remote file transfers; it can also install itself over a modem or cable to a receiving computer.
