Oracle Corp has signed up Cadre Technologies Inc of Beaverton, Oregon to provide re-engineering support to customers migrating to relational database technology: the tie is between Oracle’s Computer-Aided Systems Engineering Products Division and Cadre’s DB Designer product operation, includes the combined use of these tools for consulting, and the target is organisations seeking to move legacy data from VSAM, IMS, RMS and other file structures to a relational system; the new release of Cadre’s DB Designer works with Oracle in a client-server configuration and automates database schema recovery, prototyping of data rules and design normalisaton; development is under way to link DB Designer directly to Oracle’s CASE Dictionary.
