Ingres Ltd, Wokingham, Berkshire, says it has won a contract worth in excess of UKP100,000 to supply Legal & General Property with its Ingres relational database management system and Knowledge Manager software as part of the institutional landlord’s migration to open systems: Legal & General is downsizing from an IBM Corp mainframe to two RISC-based Digital Equipment Corp 5100s; Ingres was selected over Oracle, Ingres reports, on the strength of its windows applications and technological superiority; the system will be used primarily to run Legal’s property and portfolio management system, Orpheus; the Ingres system will support up to 100 users at Legal’s headquarters in London.
