The British MicroComputer Federation, the industry body set up in March 1987 to promote professionalism in the UK micro business, has announced a Seal of Confidence campaign. Only firms that comply with the BMF’s code of conduct will be entitled to display the seal on their products or, in the case of dealers, on their premises. The BMF hopes that the seal will become as important to the micro industry as the Association of British Travel Agents’ symbol is to holiday buyers. According to BMF chairman and former Microsoft UK managing director David Fraser, the seal is the first step in a campaign to make customers aware that they have rights if and when they are on the receiving end of shoddy practices.
