Western Digital Corp, Irvine, California, has begun shipping the Filecard PS30, its first product for use in the IBM Personal System/2 Model 30: designed specifically for the twin-floppy version, the FileCard adds 32Mb of formatted storage on a run-length-limited 3.5 Winchester, and the addition of the SpeedRead disk cacheing program reduces average access time to 20mS from 68mS for most often accessed files that are held in a small segment of RAM; it needs one and a half slots and costs $995.
