Western Digital (WD), a provider of high-performance hard drives and solid state drives, has launched WD S25 SAS drives and WD RE SAS 3.5-inch second-generation drives for enterprise market.

The new WD S25 with SAS 6Gb/s interface hard drives feature 2.5-inch, 10,000 RPM offering IT professionals high-performance storage with new 450 GB and 600 GB capacities.

The WD S25 line also features previously released 147GB and 300GB capacities, which is designed for server and storage systems, the company said.

The WD RE SAS with 6Gb/s interface hard drives for OEMs come with 3.5-inch, 7,200 RPM, and offer 1TB and 2TB capacity points, and represent a key addition to WD’s expanding enterprise product portfolio.

The company claims WD S25 family of drives deliver high performance with its 6Gb/s SAS interface and is fit for use in a broad range of mission-critical applications including dense server and storage systems.

WD RE SAS hard drives are designed to offer data-hungry SAS-based storage systems the capacity they need and are designed for business critical applications.

WD vice president of enterprise storage solutions Darwin Kauffman said their focused strategy in the enterprise continues to ensure that customers who have rewarded WD with their preference of WD drives in other application segments receive the same outstanding values of quality, reliability, performance and availability with WD’s SAS drives.
