This new program will provide health information and counsel collected from thousands of physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to WellPoint’s 34 million members through a single point of contact.
A key component of 360 Health is the personal health record (PHR), which can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection, empowering members to track and share their health histories with their doctors to help achieve the highest quality of care.
WellPoint has invested nearly $100 million to date in developing 360 Health and has drawn extensively from pilot programs initiated by its subsidiary health plans, including a pilot with Xerox.
It is anticipated that 360 Health will be rolled out over a two-year period in all markets in which WellPoint operates health plans. WellPoint members will be able to access the benefits of 360 Health by phone, email, and a personalized website.
In addition to the wealth of health care information available through the 360 Health platform, the program will help members access a wide range of services, including online wellness and lifestyle programs, discounts on health-related products and alternative medicine therapies, as well as 24-hour access to WellPoint associates who can provide health information.
360 Health and its components, including PHRs, demonstrate how WellPoint is poised to transform the way health benefits are delivered to and utilized by consumers, said Joan Kennedy, senior vice president of WellPoint and president of Health Management Corporation, WellPoint’s wholly owned integrated care management company.
