Wellfleet Communications Inc, Billerica, Massachusetts has enhanced its Frame Relay support across its range of multiprotocol bridge-routers, in the form of protocol prioritisation, congestion control and multi-line circuit support. In addition, it has also extended its Frame Relay protocol suite to support Banyan Systems Inc Vines, AppleTalk and Source Route Bridge. The protocol prioritisation is said to give users five filtering options: drop, high priority, medium priority, low priority (which assigns the frame as discard eligible) and log. The congestion control is based on the ANSI FECN Forward Explicit Congestion Notification and BECN Backward Explicit Congestion Notification standards, while Multiline circuit support is said to provide load balancing between multiple Frame Relay circuits and fault recovery for dedicated circuits on a virtual and physical level. The enhanced Frame Relay support is now to be shipped as standard on the company’s multiprotocol router-bridges from this month, while existing users will qualify for free upgrade.
