Following hard on its announcement of enhanced Frame Relay support for its bridge-routers Wellfleet Communications Corp has added a number of network management enhancements to its kit. These operate in conjunction with Wellfleet’s two SNMP-based tools, Site Manager and the Technician Interface, says the Billerica, Massachusetts company. On the performance side, Wellfleet’s hardware will now support SNMP Statistics Thresholds, to notify the central management station when pre-defined conditions occur; Direct Memory Trivial File Transfer Protocol, to transfer event logs directly from memory to Site Manager; and SNMP Trap Filtering enhancements, to better define which event log messages are converted to SNMP traps. Management enhancements include a Technician Interface Start-up Script, to aid placing the router on the network; and TI Scripting Language, a scripting capability for a router’s embedded terminal interface. Security will be improved by SNMP Security, providing encrypted keys for SNMP SETs, says the company. Finally, XModem will transfer files out-of-band, and the TI Telnet will access the router’s TI through the network using the Telnet protocol. The enhancements are ready now and will be available free to current users.
