Welcom Inc, which makes project management software for the construction, heavy engineering and aerospace sectors is turning its hand to IT projects, which it says make up around 40% of all projects currently being implemented. The Houston, Texas-based firm’s WelcomHome software is a web-based collaborative framework written in Java, which enables dispersed consultants to share project newsboards, exchange information and design customized areas for ‘to do’ lists. It will save IT project workers up to 25% in project costs, according to Welcom president and co-founder Tony Welsh.

WelcomHome also has links to project scheduling software in Welcom’s OpenPlan and Microsoft Project, to let teams access information on resources, previous projects or delivery timetables. It will ship in the first quarter next year and prices will start from $25,000 with seat costs around $75.
