WebSideStory Inc has released upgraded versions of its HitBOX web traffic analysis software. The company says HitBOX Site Analyzer and HitBOX Enterprise versions track the behavior of web site visitors, collecting more than 500 statistics, including points of entry and exit, click-count, page popularity, time spent on site, referring pages, unique visitors and the exact surfing path of each visitor.

To access the free consumer service, users place HitBOX banners on each page of the site they want monitoring. The Enterprise version is invisible to end users, and prices start at $0.67 per day, according to the company. HitBOX.com then analyzes site usage remotely and provides the site owner with reports as and when they are required. Users can get reports in real-time, said marketing director Jeff Johnston, they can sit there all day watching it if they want.

Users can also get information on browsers, plug-ins available and other statistics when a page request is made. WebSideStory says that the graphs and charts customers receive are a lot simpler to compile and easier to understand that wading through log files every day. Johnston also said the next version of the HitBOX service is likely to include performance monitoring as well as usage tracking. This should become available in September, and would put the firm up against the likes Candle Corp, which runs an online performance monitoring service.
