A group of private sector leaders and government officials launched a non-profit web site today designed to be the most comprehensive site yet for information on the year 2000 problem. The site, y2ktoday (y2ktoday.com), will provide Y2K news, opinion and analysis, status reports and strategies as well as offer the ability to engage in discussions and debate. Its backers hope that the effort will raise public awareness of the issue and provide a forum for sharing information that will help solve the problem. The initiative was spearheaded by James Adams, former CEO of United Press International and Joe Firmage, chairman and CEO of USWeb Corp. Also in on the launch will be: Senator Bob Bennett, (R-Utah), Chairman of the Senate Special Committee on the Year 2000 Technology Problem, Marv Langston, Department of Defense; and John Koskinen, chairman of the President’s Counsel on Year 2000 Conversion.
