Wang’s Allen, Texas-based digital switching systems subsidiary InteCom Inc has added an Open Application Interface for its Integrated Business Exchange line so that users can add their own applications to the PABX. The interface allows connectivity to the heart of the IBX and its features so that a computer used as an applications processor can request and instruct the system to perform specific tasks. It is claimed to interact with any computer system that supports RS-232, asynchronous interfaces, and will be offered in three categories – call processing services, system administration services and user services. It also announced its ITE 12S and ITE 12+ digital telephones. Latest in the Integrated Terminal Equipment family, the phones join the current ITE 4, ITE 24 Display and ITE 30-button instruments. Both support both voice and data on the IBX and will be available in July. The ITE 12S has 12 programmable buttons and an integrated speakerphone with ring and speaker adjustments and the 12+ provides one-way speaker capability through an on-hook dial feature for conversation monitoring and message reception. And Release Level Version 7 of the IBX operating software, also July, enables users to add Flexport line cards, increasing flexibility to assign timeslots to voice and data positions, as well as supporting the new Open Application Interface and adding 25 other features.
