It seems that the agreement under which it can buy all the PS/2s it wants from IBM Corp on an OEM basis does not meet all Wang Laboratories Inc’s needs: Tulip Computers NV says it is in talks about manufacturing computers for Wang to market across Europe. There are talks, but they are in such a preliminary phase that we cannot give further comment, a spokeswoman told Reuter. Dutch daily De Volkskrant reported that talks focused on Tulip producing 125,000 personal computers for Wang, but were complicated by the fact that Wang is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection: We cannot find an insurer that will guarantee payments, De Volkskrant quoted Tulip board member Rob Romein saying. The paper says Tulip will have to build a new plant if the talks with Wang are succesfully completed.
