WANG UNVEILS OPEN/WORKFLOW TOOLS

By CBR Staff Writer

Wang Laboratories Inc, Lowell has unveiled Open/workflow, a suite of software modules that is designed to manage work processes at various stages of development. The company says that Open/workflow enables operators to build a workflow system from a choice of components such as procedure templates, reporting systems and metrics analysis tools using a graphical toolset and integration toolkit. The package supports data from a range of source applications, including those running on IBM Corp ES/9000 and AS/400s, Digital Equipment Corp’s VAX, Unix, Windows and Wang VS systems, and includes Microsoft Corp Open Data Base Connectivity drivers. Open/workflow will run on HP-UX and AIX servers – including Wang’s re-badged RS/6000s – and supports Windows clients. The IBM version will be shipping this month and HP-UX versions are due out in March. Server prices start from $7,500 for an eight-user licence with clients priced at $500 per user.
