Wang UK Ltd has now brought in the VS/VM virtual machine operating system for its VS small mainframes that enables up to 15 concurrent VS virtual machines to be created on a single VS processor. The company’s VS IN/ix implementation of Unix System V.2, which conforms to the System V Interface Definition, is designed to run under VS/VM. The virtual machine operating system, first mooted two years ago (CI No 442), was announced in the US in December. Wang was then reportedly considering a VS version of Pick as well as of Unix to run under VS/VM.
