Wang Laboratories Inc has joined with five other companies to create an independent operating company out of its healthcare software subsidiary. Wang Healthcare Information Systems, in which Wang will retain a 48% stake, has an initial capitalization of $14m, and is backed by Quantum Industrial Partners LDS, Itochu Corp, Itochu Techno-Science Corp (CTC), MIM Corp and the Behrakis Trust. Wang already has a deal in place with CTC to distribute a Kanji version of the company’s clinical information management system in Japan. Wang says it hopes the partnership will speed up its return on the investment.
