Wall Data Inc has purchased a 10% equity stake in DataChannel Inc and secured an agreement that will see it incorporating technology from the Bellevue, Washington company into its Arpeggio Live! Information publishing server software. Kirkland, Washington-based Wall Data introduced Arpeggio Live! earlier in the year, the product running on an NT server taking legacy applications from an IBM Corp mainframe or AS/400 system before dynamically converting the front end into HTML to enable instant access to a web browser (CI No 3,124). Now the product will incorporate DataChannel’s ChannelManager Java-based Webcast push technology system resulting in an enterprise server that provides real-time, active management and use of corporate information and alike from a browser. The companies will jointly market and sell the product. The integrated server will use push technology to enable organizations to use diverse data forms and public information to extend their applications and publish information for specific business purposes. It is not clear at the this stage whether Arpeggio Live! will change its name, but the ChannelManager technology will appear in it at some point this quarter. Users will see administration time and costs reduced because the product is server based, says the company. One year old DataChannel is based in nearby Bellevue, Washington.
