San Francisco-based marketing-and-communications company W2O Group has acquired Ravel, an Austin-based big data software developer.

W2O will absorb Ravel’s big data technology as well as team of technologists and consultants to enhance its analytics and insights offering.

W2O Group president Bob Pearson said Ravel will enhance its team ability to predict trends based on a combination of historical information and real-time insights so that W2O clients can achieve advantages in the marketplace.

"The future of PreCommerce and the emerging discipline of Social Commerce will be largely shaped by an organization’s ability to see the playing field with more clarity than its peers. We’re building that line of sight for our clients and doing it in a manner that creates ‘data agility,’" said Pearson.

Following the acquisition Ravel cofounder and engineering vice-president Steve Blackmon and the company’s development team, will join W2O Group as full-time employees.

The newly joined team will consult with W2O clients on original projects and enhance, create proprietary tools and technology for W2O companies.

Ravel was founded in 2010 and it makes enterprise-grade analytics solutions for discovering insights from big data.
