VOICE-ACTIVATED MOBILE PHONE INTRODUCED BY BELL ATLANTIC

By CBR Staff Writer

A voice-activated mobile phone to encourage motorists to keep their hands on the wheel and their snoopy eyes on the road ahead, if not their mind on their driving, has been introduced by Bell Atlantic Mobile Systems Inc in Atlanta: the $1,600 enhanced Audiovox CMT-600 phone stores up to 20 numbers that can be called by speaking the name attached to the number; the phone is activated by touching any button and reads back the number it is dialling, and also stores the numbers of people who call when there is no-one in the car to answer.
