MasterCard cardholders will soon be able to use Vodafone Wallet for contactless payments.
Customers can activate the service by inputting their card number into the Vodafone Wallet, where it is then protected by the SIM and MasterCard SecureCode.
They can then pay by tapping their smartphones on contactless point-of-sale terminals and check their balance and transactions on the smartphone app.
The service will be launched within weeks in the countries where Vodafone Wallet is already available: Germany, Spain, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Hungary.
It is available on the more than 60 Android smartphones that contain a Vodafone NFC SIM, and can be used to pay through contactless at more than 3 million retail locations around the world.
