Siemens IC Mobile’s subsidiary Siemens Telecommunications based in the Republic of South Africa will supply and install mobile radio and switching technology during the next six months.

In total, the contract with Vodacom Tanzania, subsidiary of South Africa-based Vodacom, is worth over $52 million.

Vodacom Tanzania has been extremely successful. It launched its dualband GSM 900/1800 network in August 2000 and less than a year later it has already risen to the number one position in the market with more than 90,000 mobile subscribers to date.
