VMX Inc has also launched a new centralised network management product called VMX Manager, which comprises an MS-DOS software package that provides advanced management capabilities to both single and multiple VMX systems. VMX Manager gives customers the additional flexibility to take the data and reformat it into personalised reports for their own organisations’ needs, claims president Jack McKittrick. VMX Manager consists of two major modules: the Advanced Analysis Module is designed to enable flexible analysis and reporting of call or user transaction data which can be used in billing, accounting and other administrative functions. It also analyses traffic data from the VMX database, providing detailed information about systems port usage. Traffic information can be used to isolate problem lines and to determine optimum system configurations. The other part of the application is the the Mailbox Update Module which enables creation, updates and deletions to the database. The database created by the Mailbox Update Module can be divided into multiple segments so that a single VMX Manager can control several VMX sites. In addition to increases in productivity and accuracy for the operator, VMX Manager decreases the processing load on the main VMX system.
