Neverfail has signed an OEM deal with virtualisation giant VMware that will see its continuous availability technology incorporated into vCenter Server Heartbeat, a new monitoring tool for VMware’s rebranded vCenter Server.
VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat aims to provide automatic failover support as it is said to constantly monitor the server and if needed can restart the entire platform on a passive standby server, the company said. It does this by replicating the server configuration and data to the passive server.
It monitors VMware vCenter Server connectivity and components, including the license server and VMware Update Manager. This should mean continuous operation in the event of planned or unplanned downtime.

VMware vCenter Server Heartbeat will be available in March 2009.
