VMware, a provider of virtualisation and cloud infrastructure, has collaborated with HP on turnkey offerings to simplify and accelerate virtualisation for customers in the transition to cloud computing.
Under the collaboration, the new HP VirtualSystem offering will be built on HP Converged Infrastructure, which will be pre-tested IT infrastructure stacks delivered as appliances that will enable cloud computing for enterprise customers of all sizes.
The new appliances will include optimised, turnkey virtual infrastructure and end-user computing offerings that deliver a full compute stack consisting of server, storage, networking and services from HP and virtualisation, cloud infrastructure and management software from VMware.
The HP VirtualSystem offerings with VMware technologies will be available in three scalable deployment options that are ‘right-sized’ for customers.
HP systems and solutions vice-president Paul Miller said organisations are looking to deploy virtualisation more pervasively without the complexity that comes with the proliferation of management tools.
"To help manage these complexities and simplify the path to cloud computing, HP and VMware are working closely to ensure the new HP VirtualSystem portfolio will help clients achieve rapid deployment, maximum performance and advanced management of their virtualised environments," Miller said.
HP VirtualSystems with VMware virtualisation are expected to be available in the second half of 2011 from HP or from VMware and HP offering providers.
