Arrow Electronics has announced that VMware has selected it as an Aggregator in the VMware vCloud Air Network Program.

Arrow will deliver the complete vCloud Air Network Program framework as part of the ArrowSphere cloud marketplace, which allows service providers and hosting providers to acquire VMware products in a way that aligns with their subscription-based models.

Jim Aluotto, director, Service Provider Business, Americas Region, VMware, said: "We are pleased to have selected Arrow as an Aggregator for the VMware vCloud Air Network Program, making VMware’s products available through a licensing program built for service providers’ unique business models."

"Arrow’s investment in cloud-enabling capabilities, such as the ArrowSphere platform, and its ongoing success, positions us to help service providers develop their own cloud computing solutions to differentiate their offerings and accelerate growth opportunities."

The ArrowSphere platform will extend the vCloud Air Network subscription program and provide companies with automation to remove the complexities of provisioning, usage management, billing and reporting.

Sean Kerins, president of Arrow’s global enterprise computing solutions, said: "Leveraging our experience as one of VMware’s largest distribution partners, Arrow continues to make significant investments to grow and enhance its capabilities with VMware, now as an Aggregation partner for service providers."

"VMware delivers industry-leading virtualization and cloud computing capabilities that greatly enhance the Arrow cloud line card and complement our cloud builders’ offerings. Our service providers are now able to utilize the vCloud Air Network that offers a pay-as-you-go license rental model, providing flexibility in service delivery in building public, private and hybrid cloud solutions for their customers."

Through the ArrowSphere platform, solution providers may leverage various engagement paths. Additionally this will simplify the management of multiple cloud providers and automate the provisioning and billing of cloud services.
