Vizioncore, a provider of virtualisation data protection and management offerings, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Quest Software, has released new version of vConverter that enables virtual-to-physical, virtual-to-virtual and physical-to-virtual server conversions.

The company said that its new version of vConverter facilitates the conversion of physical systems into an image file on virtual servers within either Hyper-V or VMware environments as well as within mixed environments. It also enables administrators to convert virtual machines between VMware and Hyper-V systems.

In addition, vConverter now supports Microsoft Hyper-V systems in addition to VMware environments. Its new virtual-to-physical recovery capability allows administrators to restore virtual images onto physical systems.

Vizioncore said that its new offering enables physical systems to be converted, protected, replicated and recovered on virtual systems and physical systems; and facilitates trouble-shooting of physical systems with virtual infrastructure.

Mike Coffman, vice president of server virtualisation products at Quest Software, said: "Administrators managing both Hyper-V and VMware platforms can now safeguard physical systems and data within their virtual infrastructure by deploying just one solution that offers physical-to-virtual-to-physical protection. This latest version of vConverter is the first solution in our data protection portfolio to support Hyper-V."
