ViXS Systems, a provider of smart network multimedia processors, has expanded its XCode 4200 family of multimedia processors with the introduction of the XCode 4205.

The new offering is designed to enable manufacturers to design and deploy next generation broadcast content; playback of 1080p high definition video; Blu-ray 3D TV MVC decode; and Over-The-Top (OTT) delivered content.

The company said the XCode 4205 is adaptable and scalable, allowing manufacturers to build a range of Blu-ray and set-top box receivers from basic offerings to full featured high-end PVR set-top boxes.

In addition, the offering supports a full suite of both legacy 3D TV and full HD 3D TV through ViXS’ advanced media processing.

The XCode 4205 features include dual HD decoders for picture-in-picture display; and advanced 3D graphics supporting Full HD 1080p resolution compliant to OpenGL-ES2.0 with support for Android, Adobe, Flash and web browsers.

The offering also features high system throughput over Ethernet; independent concurrent IP codec content decoder for OTT video decoder/processor; and ViXS Xtensiv software stack.

ViXS Systems president and CEO Sally Daub said the XCode 4205(R), with its high performance processing, enables its customers to support not only current passive viewing Blu-ray playback and set-top box features, but also high value interactive and new revenue generating services such as OTT, video streaming and 3D TV.

"ViXS’ new set-top box SOC architecture is adaptable and upgradeable, which we believe will allow our customers who deploy products incorporating the XCode 4205 to keep pace with new technologies as they enter the market without having to upgrade devices," Daub said.
