Vitesse Semiconductor Corp, Camarillo, California has announced an ECL-compatible static RAM in Gallium Arsenide, claiming that its 3nS access time makes it the fastest ECL-compatible static available. The VS12G422E is arranged 256 by 4 bits, dissipates .5W and, like all GaAs products, is radiation hard, and is offered for commercial and military temperature ranges. The new Vitesse part is aimed at computer and military applications, particularly for use in caches, control stores and graphics applications where 100422 ECL statics are currently used. The part comes in a 24-pin ceramic DIP, and is intended to complement the company’s ECL-compatible GaAs versions of the Am2900 bit-slice family and 1,500 and 4,500 gate array families. It is available for sampling now with volume in early 1988, and will sell for $67 in quantities of 1,000-up.
