Vita Cellular Foam UK centralises IT systems with Cloud migration

Vita virtualises over 60 servers to improve business continuity with Exponential-e.

By Vinod

Exponential-e’s Virtual Data Centre will serve Vita Cellular foam as it migrates its entire UK server infrastructure to the cloud.

Part of the Vita Group, the firm has been operating in the UK for more than 50 years and is migrating to cloud to consolidate IT infrastructure and re-focus of IT resources on strategic objectives.

Exponential-e will provide a fully resilient end-to-end Cloud and Wide Area Network (WAN) solution, delivered over its carrier-class VPLS Layer 2 cloud-ready network.

Vita Cellular Foam UK’s decision to move to a Cloud environment comes following a strategic review of its IT operations and a need to release the large European-wide IT team from IT support functions, and instead focus on projects aligned with business objectives, such as improving business continuity and efficiency. Removing capacity barriers for IT resources will allow the business to improve the agility of the IT team within the organisation.

Following a review of Cloud solutions from providers including well-known names in the Cloud space, the decision to select Exponential-e was driven by its ability to provide an end-to-end network and cloud solution. The VDC enables Vita Cellular Foam UK to roll-out its private Cloud, which integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructure and is tailored to meet its specific requirements.

Paul Morton, divisional IT manager, Vita Cellular Foam UK, explained: "Moving our entire physical server farm to a Cloud environment made absolute sense for the business. We needed to improve our business continuity whilst ensuring our business-critical applications are constantly available and without interruption or latency.

"We looked at several Cloud solutions but Exponential-e is unique in providing an end-to-end solution, including a nine site Wide Area Network and low latency connectivity to our Cloud. Moreover, a solution that meets our security and privacy requirements is vital, so Exponential-e’s credentials in ensuring security and privacy of the Cloud environment were key."

Dominic Anschutz, head of cloud, Exponential-e, said: "Businesses are increasingly looking to consolidate infrastructure by moving towards a Cloud model but, as with Vita Cellular Foam UK, the success of this transformation is dependent on not only the flexibility and reliability of the solution, but also the data security and privacy it offers in order to realise the benefits of Cloud."

The project will be expanding to include a migration of the Group’s European-wide infrastructure to the new Virtual Data Centre.
